Processes

The processes affecting the carbonates in the soil can provoke two opposing effects: accumulation or destruction

1. Calcite formation

It may be useful to distinguish two categories of processes responsible for the accumulation of carbonates in soils:

Crystallization

Recryistallization

Weathering

Replacement

Bioformation

And as a result of the formation of carbonates in soils, an effect of:

Displacement

2. Calcite destruction

Dissolution
