Abstract. Assessment of soil quality and soil contaminants have been increasing its relevance over last years. Such assessment must be predictive of pollutant level in soils. Standards for soil quality have not yet included metals concentrations. This paper deals with a modelling framework available to permit the evaluation of soil quality in Castilla La Mancha region. The standard values obtained are(in µg.g-1):As=32; Pb=14; Cu=19; Sb=4; Ni=30; Ba=630; Ce=54; Co=15; Cr=69; La=42; Sc=16; V=102; Y=17 and Zn=66. Criteria and standards must implicitly incorporate metals concentrations in order to obtain a well-developed soil quality index.
