In this work we present the results of the application of various models to calibrate the 'Cs data in order to quantify erosion and sedimentation rates. Various models have been applied on 17 soil profiles in which 137Cs activities have been measured. Of these, 10 correspond to eroding profiles and 7 are aggrading. The rates of erosion and aggradation calculated are similar and no significant statiscal differences have been found. The selected models are easily applied and do not require parameters difficult to obtain. Nevertheless, these soils characterised by highly variable properties and high stoniness require specific models suitable for the special features of the Mediterranean environments.
