Abstract

A 3-year field experiment was carried out to study the effect of deep fertilization with three organic materials (an olive mill waste water sludge compost, CA, a municipal solid waste compost, CRSU, and a paper mill waste, RP) on the chemical fertility of a sandy, poor in organic matter soil, supporting strawberry crop. Throughout the experiment it was observed a progressive increase of the contents of total organic carbon of the soil (COT), and Kjeldahl-N, and of the concentrations of available-P, -K, -Ca and - Mg. At the end of the experiment increases of COT and available-P were very noticeable, especially in soils fertilized with CRSU and RP. Also, it was especially remarkable at the end of the experiment, the increase of Kjeldahl-N in the soil fertilized with CRSU, and the increase of available-K in that treated with CA.
