GEOQUIMÍCA DE LA ALTERACIÓN Y EDAFOGÉNESIS DE ROCAS SERPENTINIZADAS DE LA SIERRA BERMEJA (MÁLAGA)

Abstract

The geochemical evolution during the weathering processes and pedogenesis of serpentinized rocks of Sª Bermeja, contry of Málaga, is studied. The regime of moisture is of xeric type and thermic the regime of temperature.

In present conditions the primary minerals of the rock are still very stable. The processes of mineral neoformation spread to the formation of saponites and, in minor measure, nontronites. The evaporitic conditions favor the formation of sepiolite and the neoformation and/or conservation of calcite, dolomite and magnesite next to the primary minerals of the rock. The process of weathering is the characteristic of a sustractive system, with an almost total decalcification, a desilication and a moderated loss of Mg and a patent relative enrichment in iron, being the global sequence of the relationships of mobility Ca>Mg. In a global way, the process could be defined as an incipient ferruginization associated with a bisialitization, by inheritance and neoformation of trioctaedric minerals 2:1 (saponites). The most developed and leached soils of the series have conditions of stability for dioctaedric smectites and, in minor measure, for caolinites of low cristalinity.
