Abstract

We have used GIS and decission making methods with temathics maps that were obtained by geostatistical interpolations over 177 real samples of soils, with two objetives: to establish the way of working and to study the suitability, in Campillos (1022), of two of the principals land uses in Andalucía, the oliveyard and the wheat/sunflower rotation. The olive plantation has its highest rates of suitability on Regosols with more than 60% of total surface and Calcisols with 30%, while wheat/sunflower rotation has its highest rates on Calcisols and Vertisols. If we make comparisons between the dominant crop and the type of soil, the oliveyard would be dominant on Regosols, Antrosols and on the few Leptosols that would be cultivated, and the rotation would be dominant on Luvisols, Cambisols and Vertisols. Fluvisols and Calcisols have the same capacity to support both types of crops.
