ABSTRACT

Among the natural and induced agents that make land desertification we can find the soil physical degradation, due to adverse alterations into its physical properties, like porosity, hard crust formation, etc... that determine a decrease of permeability or an increase of bulk density (F.A.O., 1980).

The main objective of this paper is to establish the Physical Degradation Risk Balance of the soils in the studied area, using a Geographic Information System. A thematic map was elaborated that shows the different rates of this kind of no erosive degradation of soil. The risks were low due in part to the pedologic factor and mainly to the low contents on fine lime and silt.
