ANÁLISIS MULTIVARIADO Y UNIVARIADO EN LA DISCRIMINACIÓN DE SISTEMAS DE USO DE SUELOS DEL CENTRO DE SANTA FE

Abstract. The quantification of the degradation processes requires the evaluation of soil properties that can be used as indicators of the modifications induced by the different land use systems. The objectives of this research were to: (i) evaluate the potential of the multivariate (canonical discriminant analysis, CDA) and univariate (analysis of variance, ANOVA) statistical techniques for discriminating the different land management systems in two Argiudolls and, (ii) identify the most sensible properties to the alterations induced by different management systems. In the soils Aquic Argiudoll and Typical Argiudoll, that have been used with continuous agriculture, extensive livestock, intensive livestock , and virgin vegetation, were evaluated pH, C, P, K+, Ca+2, Mg+2, Na+, Al+3, H+Al, S-SO4, B, Cu+2, Mn+2, Zn+2 and %S/T. The results indicated that the CDA was more efficient than ANOVA to discriminate the land management systems as well as to identify the nutrients more sensitive to soil degradation.
