Accumulation of carbonates

Displacement

The crystallization of carbonates causes pressures in the soil, pushing pre-existing grains, displacing them and ending up in extreme cases by their expulsion from the calcic horizons.

Some indications of the process of displacement are:

Presence of fragmented and separate mineral grains, showing important changes in position of the different fragments.

Presence of bent micas with separated and twisted flakes.

Areas of original material compressed in zones of high density.
