The causes of accumulation
The accumulation of carbonates by precipitation of solutions in the soil occurs as a result of an oversaturation caused by one or more of the following:
 Water loss through evaporation or transpiration.

 Water becoming overcharged with HC03-, or with 
  salts with a common ion, as it moves through the soil.
